Emma Brown, 12, made a pact with a friend to kill her entire family and then commit suicide, but the teenager only shot her father in the abdomen and then killed herself with a shot to the head.
The case has had little media coverage, due to the secrecy of the family and that the information of the other teenager involved is kept secret, following Texas laws.
Brown shot his father, Daniel Brown, 38, in the abdomen at his home in Poolville, Texas on September 20, 2022.
According to a report the Daily Mailwho followed up on the case, the other teen – from Lufkin, Texas – will face jail time for the murder plot.
Brown was a seventh grader who, according to the report, had planned to kill his entire family and pets, but shot only his father, who survived and is a gun lover.
The Mail also revealed a photo of the teenager with her father, Daniel, who has an FFL license to carry and sell weapons.
The report also cites a recording of an emergency call that reveals that Brown had shot his father without a wordthen he had run towards the entrance of the house, but a few meters from it he shot himself in the head.
The police officers who responded to the report discovered the schoolgirl lying on the dirt road with the gun under her body, she was still alive, but she died two days later in the hospital.
The family has not wanted to talk about the tragedy and has reinforced security in their home.
Texas is a state where gun culture is entrenched and the right to carry is defended by the state government, even allowing them to be carried in public spaces.
