The Club World Cup has been an attractive tournament for soccer fans. Every year there is the possibility that the best teams from each continent are measured to determine to the world monarch. The teams from the Old Continent are the usual winners, but in the 2025 edition they will not have such an easy participation.
This prestigious tournament will have a new format for 2025, as designated by the FIFA Council. Unanimously, The venue of the tournament will be the United States. This decision is related to the fact that the Club World Cup could be a test for the American organization just one year before the World Cup that they will host together with Canada and Mexico.
“The 2025 Club World Cup will be the pinnacle of elite professional men’s club footballand with the required infrastructure along with great local interest, The United States is the ideal host to kick off this new world tournament”, said the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino.

A Club World Cup with 32 teams
The main change in the tournament is the number of teams that will be contesting the cup. Now there will be 32 clubs who will fight to consecrate themselves worldwide: UEFA (Europe) will have 12 teams, CONMEBOL (South America) 6, AFC (Asia) 4, CAF (Africa) 4, Concacaf (Central and North America) 4, OFC (Oceania) and one more place that will be for a club from the local country , in this case an MLS team.
Until now there are three places in Europe that already have an owner and are the last winning clubs of the UEFA Champions League: Chelsea, Real Madrid and reigning champion Manchester City. In this order of ideas, for Concacaf they will be Club León, Seattle Sounders and Rayados de Monterrey.
“(The tournament will take place) in the summer of 2025. It will occupy the place that the old Confederations Cup had, although it will be more extensive because there will be 32 participating teams here,” explained Infantino.
