Alan Tacher interviewed Lucerito Mijares for ‘Despierta América’, who will soon debut as an actress in the musical theater play ‘El Mago’, based on ‘The Wizard of Oz’, but had an obstacle to fulfill her dream, because her father, Manuel Mijares, did not agree that he ventured into the world of acting.
The 18-year-old girl said that once she finished high school she went with her two parents separately to tell her parents about the idea she had of becoming an actress, to which Lucero agreed immediately, but the same did not happen with her father. “I don’t know, let’s see”was the response he got from the interpreter of ‘Soldier of Love’.
Because of this, she had to ask her mother for help to convince her father and she finally agreed.
In the talk, Lucerito Mijares also told how he got his first leading role in the play ‘El Mago’. “This came, really quite organically, because Juan Torres, the producer, tells me, ‘I need you to see the movie, Judy Garland’s, ‘The Wizard of Oz”, So now, we were talking one day and he told me, ‘that’s the play’”he mentioned.
On the other hand, Lucerito Mijares also told him that he would like to have his own theater and get to participate in a Broadway musical. In addition, she said that she is very nervous because of the premiere of the play, especially because of what it will cause her to see her grandmother and her parents in the audience.
