A Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) K9 officer found drugs and an assault rifle that were hidden inside a drink vending machine.

The operation in which the narcotics and weapons were found occurred this Friday in Los Angelesbut it was part of an investigation by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriffs were in Los Angeles to enforce a search warrant at a service shop at an undisclosed location downtown and requested the assistance of an LAPD K9 officer.

The K9 officer Bosco was designated to support the operation and at the site he found the drug that was inside a drink vending machine.

The authorities seized 15 pounds of heroin, about 2.2 pounds of fentanyl, and an assault rifle.

Seized fentanyl has the potential to kill more than 500,000 people, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Bosco is a 2 year old Dutch Shepherd with a six month specialization in narcotics.

The LAPD did not give more details about the seizure of drugs and weapons because it is part of a larger ongoing investigation by Ventura County Sheriff’s detectives.
