The death toll from flooding in the Ukrainian region of Kherson after the destruction of the Kajovka dam on June 6 already amounts to 41 people, reported today (06.21.2021) Andrei Alekseenko, head of the provincial government appointed by Moscow. Previously, the Russians had reported 38 deaths in Ukrainian territories under their control.

According to kyiv, more than 500 people have died in Russian-occupied territory in southern Ukraine as a result of flooding left by the burst hydroelectric dam.

The pro-Russian administration, which controls the left bank of the Dnieper River, where the dam was located, has reported the evacuation of 8,100 people from the flooded areasabout 1,900 of which are in temporary accommodation points.

Russia accused Ukraine of having destroyed the dam, while Kiev claims that it was Moscow that blew it up to stop the advance of Ukrainian troops in the counter-offensive in the south of the country.
