The police reported that A 7-year-old boy fatally shot a 5-year-old boy inside a home in eastern Kentucky.
An initial investigation found that the shooting reported Monday night at McKee’s home was accidental, Kentucky State Police said in a statement.
Life-saving measures were attempted, but the Jackson County coroner pronounced the boy dead at the scenesaid the police.
Authorities indicated that the investigation is continuing. Those involved were not identified.
There have been more than 150 unintentional shootings by children in the US so far this year, including three others in Kentucky, which resulted in at least 58 deaths and 101 injuries, according to the advocacy group Everytown for Gun Safety.
A few days ago, the authorities reported that a two-year-old boy in Michigan died from an accidental shooting after accessing an unsecured firearm.
A statement from the Howell Police Department indicated that officers responded to a Report of shooting in the Rolling Oaks subdivision of Howell, Michigan.
“A 2.5-year-old boy was reported to have had access to an unsecured firearm that resulted in an accidental firing,” the statement said.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Shortly before the tragic event in Michigan, another 3-year-old boy died after accidentally shooting himself in Tennessee while in a carwhere he allegedly found a loaded gun.
Officers responded to a possible gunshot wound call in the Harbor Freight area, at a mall, in Collierville, located in Shelby County
Due to gravity, fHe was rushed to a hospital in critical condition and later died of his injuries.
It is unclear how the boy was able to get hold of the gun. Investigators told us that other family members were in the car at the time of the accidental shooting.
