Colombian player William Tesillo, captain of Club León, who recently won the Concachampions with the team against LAFC in Major League Soccer, affirmed this Tuesday that while the clubs and the MX League have grown, the same has not happened with the national team.
“Things have been tried to grow the league and the national team in Mexico. At León we have just been champions of the Concacaf Champions League and this also speaks of the fact that the league overcame, after losing in 2022 in the same tournament”, said the Colombian central defender at a press conference.
He explained that the title that restored Mexico’s hegemony in the highest Concacaf club tournament, one year after the Pumas lost in the Champions League final to the Seattle Sounders It is proof of the good level of the competition.
This contrasts with the present of the Mexican team, which last Monday he was left without a coach when the Argentine coach Diego Cocca was dismissed by the Mexican Soccer Federation.
Tesillo evaluated as a normal decision because the results are not positive.
“Football things, they happen like that. Sometimes they try to do things to improve, as well as at the club level, when we have coaches who are not doing well. A decision is made from above to always improve ”.
León will debut in the Apertura 2023 tournament next Monday, July 3, hosting Chivas del Guadalajara on the first day of the Clausura 2023 of the Liga MX.
