denisse smokedthe councilor of Reynosa, Tamaulipas who was arrested in Texas for transporting 42 kilos of cocaine, was acquitted of her detention after Judge Juan F. Alanis determined so.
According to the judicial records of the case, the judge dismissed the lawsuit against the Mexican politician, considering that the government “did not comply with its obligation to establish probable cause that the defendant committed the offense for which he is accused.” .
Despite the decision, the US prosecutor’s office could present a new accusation against Ahumada Martínez, according to the newspaper Milenio.
Dave Hendricks, a local reporter and the only media representative at the hearing where the evidence against Ahumada was presented, said that the councilor had been threatened to introduce something illegal to the United Statesbut did not know what it was about.
Given this, the judge determined that, in effect, Ahumada did not know what was happeningtherefore dismissed the charges.
The complaint emphasized that, on June 10, Border Patrol agents at the checkpoint in Falfurrias, Texas, carried out an immigration inspection of his vehicle.
It was at that moment that the agents discovered certain anomalies in the seats of the truck, for which a physical inspection was carried out in which the packages with cocaine were discovered.
