The Los Angeles Dodgers took advantage of the euphoria at Dodger Stadium to defeat the Chicago White Sox 5-4 in the final game of the series. The Los Angeles team led a comeback after trailing 4-0 in the sixth inning.
The Dodgers began losing the game from the very first inning after a back to back by Luis Robert and Eloy Jiménez against pitches from lefty Michael Grove who hasn’t been good in any of his starts.
In the fourth inning, the White Sox hit another back-to-back home run by third baseman Jake Burger and then one by Andrew Vaughn. to expand the scoreboard 4-0 against the left-handed Grove. Grove has made 7 appearances this year and has one of the worst ERAs in the majors at 8.10 with 27 runs allowed in 30 innings of work.
At the bottom of the sixth inning, the comeback for the Dodgers team began. With a ticket and consecutive hits from the Venezuelan David Peralta and James Outman to load the bases and give Chris Taylor a chance.
Veteran Chris Taylor in a 1-1 count disappeared all over the left field and with a single drive tied the actions 4-4. This was the 100th home run of Taylor’s major league career.
The tie held until the 11th inning, when the bases were reloaded for the Dodgers.but this time the turn came to first baseman Freddie Freeman, who has been one of the Dodgers’ best sluggers this season.
On a 3-1 count, Freeman sent a long fly ball to center field that Luis Robert didn’t bother looking to catch and dropped it. so that the Dodgers get their 30th victory of the season.
Dodgers 2 games away from the pennant
The team remains with a 39-30 record and is two games behind the Arizona Diamondbackswho fell into a losing streak with three losses in the last 4 games.
The Dodgers will open a 3-game division series at home against the San Francisco Giants. This Friday there is still no pitcher announced by the LA team, while opener Jon Brebbia will start for San Francisco.
