Mother dies in accident after being ejected and hit by her own vehicle; she was traveling with her three children

HOUSTON – One The driver died after she was ejected from her vehicle where three of her children were also traveling this Thursday morning, according to authorities.

The fatal accident occurred at about 2 am in the southwest of the city at the height of Bissonnet Street on Highway 59 South.

According to Houston Police, the 30-year-old woman lost control of her vehicle, an SUV, in the 9500 block of Highway 59 South just past the exit ramp area.

Officials reported that apparently the driver was traveling at a high speed when exiting the ramp and crashed into two traffic signs and was ejected from the car on impact.

After being ejected, the vehicle continued its trajectory and ran over the woman, according to the Police.

One of the victim’s two sons was also expelled, but managed to survive, suffering only a few scrapes. The child who was ejected is under five years old and the other children, under 12 years of age, suffered minor injuries inside the vehicle.

The victim’s children were taken to a hospital for evaluation and are expected to be fine.

The driver was apparently not wearing a seat belt and the children were also not restrained in car seats.
