Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl are the second and third highest mountains in Mexico, full of history but also legends of the area.

One of them narrates that these two volcanoes They represent a maiden and a young warrior from Tlaxcaltecas.

Iztaccíhuatl was the young princess of this population, with a beauty never seen before and who fell madly in love with a warrior from Popocatépetl, one of the most handsome and strongest of his people.

Legend tells that during a war between the Tlaxcalans and their strongest enemies, the Aztecs, andhe warrior Popocatépetl asked the chief of his people for the hand of the princess Iztaccíhuatl. He accepted the proposal, but on the condition that he returned safely from the war to marry her.

This way, the warrior went to battle, while the princess waited for him. However, a jealous rival of the warrior Popocatépetl deceived her and told her that her beloved had died in combat.

Dragged by sadness and inconsolation, she died of sadness for the alleged loss of her beloved.

As the days go by, Popocatépetl returned victorious from the battle to marry Iztaccíhuatl, but was informed of the bad news. Motivated by love and sadness, the warrior ordered a great tomb to be built under the Sun, piling up 10 hills to raise a huge mountain.

Once built, he took the inert body of his princess, and laying her down on the top of the mountain, he kissed her for the last time for later.
