A 4-month-old baby staying at a Manhattan migrant hotel died early Thursday after she was found unconscious and rushed her to a nearby hospital, authorities said.

The New York Police Department confirmed a report at 7:32 a.m. of an unresponsive infant inside the Stewart Hotel and the infant was pronounced dead upon arrival at Bellevue Hospital.

According to the authorities, there is no indication of an apparent criminal act, but the medical examiner will determine the cause of deathso the investigation continues and no arrests were made.

This hotel, turned refuge for immigrants, a wild fight last January, with two people stabbed during a melee.

The Stewart Hotel, used as an emergency shelter for the New York City Department of Social Services, it was transformed into a migrant shelter in November 2022.

This case comes less than a month after an 8-year-old girl died while in US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) custody in Harlingen, Texas.

According to reports, the girl and her family were in custody at a CBP facility when she “experienced a medical emergency,” sparking mixed reactions to the agents’ alleged negligence, which is why the investigation remains open.

This case became the second death of a minor in CBP custody since previously a 17-year-old boy died on May 10 in a Florida detention center.
