Death of Tina Turner: story and legacy of the singer who “rose from the ashes”

The world of music is mourning the death of American singer Tina Turner in Küschnat, Switzerland, in a castle with her husband, the German Erwin Bach. And it is that for more than three decades, the famous she was crowned as one of the great phenomena of pop and rock.

However, the luxuries and affection that the public gave him during his artistic career were not constant in his life; on the contrary, it was marked by mistreatment and loneliness.

Anna Mae Bullock’s ordeal began during her childhood, as was born in a windowless basement designated as a maternity ward for “colored” women at the county hospital in 1939 within a dysfunctional family.

At the age of 11 her mother left the place and Tina Turner decided to go with her cousin Margaret who welcomed her into her home. Tragedy would strike her life once more after Margaret lost her life in a car accident.

In the field of love, it is known that she had a brief romance in Knoxville with the saxophonist, Raymond Hill, and as a result of that relationship, her first son, Craig Turner, was born. However, after ending her relationship with the saxophonist, she joined the band of the musician Ike Turner, who she would soon after become her husband.

Tina Turner opened up about the difficult chapter in her life that she lived with her husband, a victim of cocaine and violence. “Cracked lips, black eyes, dislocated joints, broken bones, and psychological torment became part of everyday life,” she recounted in an interview.

It would be the year 1968 when the music star tried to kill herself by taking fifty sleeping pills, but this was cut short thanks to her musical team, who took her to the hospital before achieving her goal.

To take back the reins of your life, Turner decided to get away from Iker and dedicate himself to his career, as well as his role as a mother. In total, he had four children, two adopted and two biological: Craig Raymond Turner with Raymond Hill and Ronald Renelle Turner with Ike Turner. She later adopted Iker Turner Jr and Michael Turner, the result of her husband Ike’s previous relationship with Lorraine Taylor.

Death would visit her once again after the suicide of her eldest son, Craig Turner at age 62 at his home in Studio City with a gunshot wound. In the year 2022, Tina Turner lost her son Ronnie from her after a long battle with cancer.

Despite the blows of life, the singer-songwriter did not let herself be defeated and in an interview she stated that: “I’m a natural survivor, but I’ve had help, and I’m not talking about success or money, although I’ve been blessed with both. The help that has been essential for my well-being, my joy and my resilience is my spiritual life.he”.
