North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles on Monday. the latest in its wave of weapons tests in recent weeks, the South Korean military reported.
“Our armed forces detected two short-range ballistic missiles fired from the Junghwa area in North Hwanghae province. at 07:47 (22:47 GMT) in the direction” of the Sea of Japan, the Seoul Joint Chiefs of Staff (EMC) said in a statement.

“Our military strengthened vigilance against further launches and maintains a stand-by posture through close cooperation between South Korea and the United States.added the EMC.
The Japanese Ministry of Defense also confirmed the launch. Japanese media quoted authorities as saying both missiles flew in an irregular trajectory before falling outside their economic exclusion zone.
“Shield of Freedom”
The launch came after Seoul and Washington wrapped up their biggest military exercises on Thursday. joint efforts in five years, and at a time when these two armed forces are carrying out a mock amphibious landing.
Pyongyang views such exercises as rehearsals for an invasion, and on Friday declared the recent exercises, dubbed Freedom Shield, were training to “occupy” North Korea.
North Korea conducted its own military exercises, including the second intercontinental ballistic missile launch of the year and the test of a nuclear attack submarine drone.
