Prior to the game of Concacaf Nations League between Mexico and Jamaicahe Aztec stadium said the last goodbye to the mythical comedian Xavier López ‘Chabelo’ with a particular tribute, because instead of the customary minute of silence that is used for these cases, the venue’s public address system called for 60 seconds of applause.

Before the match, the respective national anthems were sung and then the captain of El Tri, Guillermo Ochoa, proceeded to read a short message of respect. After this, the voice of the Azteca Stadium requested a minute of applause as a gesture of respect and farewell before the physical departure of ‘Chabelo’, who died last Saturday at the age of 88 due to abdominal health complications.

Before the meeting, it was known that a minute of silence was included in the protocol logistics. However, it was the palms that fired the “friend of all children”. While this was happening, a short video could be enjoyed on the giant screen with the best moments in the career of the presenter, actor and comedian.

During the small tribute prepared at the Azteca for ‘Chabelo’, the Mexican team was gathered receiving a small harangue from Memo Ochoa.

This Sunday, the presenter’s family reported that “the remains of Xavier López ‘Chabelo’ are already being cremated, the announced mass for his body was brought forward and was completely private. Details of a tribute will be announced during the week.
