75-year-old woman and her 12 cats die in house fire in Sylmar

A 75-year-old woman and her 12 cats died Monday night in a strong fire who checked into a residence in the Sylmar neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley.

According to a statement from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD)the fire was reported shortly before 11:00 pm at a home located at 14379 West Tyler Street.

When firefighters arrived at the scene of the fire, They managed to get the woman, who was unconscious, from the one-story house that was engulfed in flames.

For more than 20 minutes, the LAFD paramedics attempted to resuscitate the victim, but she was pronounced dead by emergency services.

So far, authorities have not provided the identity of the deceased woman.

Inside the burned-out house firefighters found about a dozen cats dead from the conflagration.

The authorities keep an investigation active to find the causes that originated the fire, although the LAPD officers mentioned that they did not find working smoke alarms inside the burned house.
