A curious situation became extremely viral on social networks and even reached the main news outlets in Colombia when the military ID of a young journalist was given to him with a photograph of Cristiano Ronaldo instead of his own.

The man identified as David Godoy narrated on Twitter that after a long process to obtain his ‘Military Book of the National Army of Colombia’, it was delivered to him digitally in a file that, once downloaded, had a photo of the Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo instead of yours. The identification has all the data of the young person, except the photograph.

“It is very expensive to process the Military Book so that they generate it for me with the photo of Cristiano Ronaldo. I ask and they tell me that they don’t know what my photos did, that I have to take them in person again. Why are they playing with people’s time?

The also journalist, according to the biography of his social networks, also shared a video explaining how complicated the process became and demonstrating that when entering the agency’s website, the image of ‘El Bicho’ appeared. “When I was able to pay for it, after three months because it is not cheap, I came home happy and was surprised,” he said.

The controversy was of such magnitude that the Recruitment and Reserve Control Command (institution in charge of this process) had to issue a statement in which they told their version of the facts and blamed Godoy for what happened.

According to the agency, the young man uploaded to the system in February 2016 seven photographs that “did not correspond to those of the citizen.” However, they indicated that they would seek to get to the bottom of the matter.

“Internally, a review of the procedures carried out in the processing of the military card will be carried out, which will help to fully identify if it was an individual conduct on the part of the user, which could generate responsibility prior authorization from the competent authority (…) or if there was some type of omission in the process and/or controls by some public servant within the process”, they specified.

Finally, and due to the media relevance of the issue, Godoy was contacted by a military authority that will help him replace the photo.

“The Major of the military district has already contacted me, only thanks to the pressure of the networks because he had not answered my messages before. He’s going to change my photo, but he assures me that it’s my fault. In short, they do not assume anything, ”he wrote.
