Maria Branyas, A Catalan woman who was born on March 4, 1907, celebrated her 116th birthday this Saturday, which is why she continues to top the list of the longest-lived people in the world, prepared by the Gereontological Research Group.
For 22 years, Branyas has lived in the Santa Maria del Tura residence in Olot, Girona, Spain. In this year, he became the oldest person in the world after the death of the French Lucile Randon, who occupied the first position at that time.
Branyas has not conducted interviews for a while to “preserve his tranquility“This was confirmed by her family and caregivers at the center where she lives, but she has an account on the social network Twitter that she uses to communicate, her profile is: Super Àvia Catalana (Super Catalan Grandma).
He already has more than 11 thousand followers, and for his birthday he published photos of his celebration.

In older publications, Branyas explained that he received a visit from the American film director Sam Green because you prepare a new project, ‘The oldest person in the word’ (the world’s oldest person), due out in 2024.
Also, Branyas assures that the film crew of this new documentary were very kind and that Green: “always smiling, was very friendly and respectful throughout the day.”
Maria Branyas was born in San Franciscobut as a child she returned to Spain, where she settled and had three children, who live in different Catalan towns.
Branyas is followed on this list of the longest-lived people, Japanese Fusa Tatsumi, who was born only 52 days after her. She is then followed by American Edie Ceccarelli, who was born in February 1908.
In this list, the first eight positions are occupied by women, of which three are Japanese, three Americans, one Brazilian and the Spanish one that tops the list. The first man to appear occupies the ninth place and is the Venezuelan Juan Vicente Pérezborn May 27, 1909.
