Actor Alec Baldwin, 64, was indicted – along with gunsmith Hanna Gutierrez-Reed – with involuntary manslaughter.for the incident that occurred on October 21, 2021 on the set of the film Rustwhere the cinematographer died Halyna Hutchins.

The indictment was unsealed Tuesday, January 31, by the Santa Fe District Attorney’s Office.; Hutchins died hours after Baldwin shot him with a prop gun that was loaded with live ammunition, though he has testified that he did not pull the trigger. The film’s director, Joel Souzawas also injured.

Both Alec’s and Gutierrez-Reed’s lawyers maintain that their respective clients are innocent.; the district attorney Mary Carmack Altwies said to CNN: “Today we have taken another important step to ensure justice for Halyna Hutchins. In New Mexico, no one is above the law and justice will be served.” If found guilty, the actor and gunsmith could spend up to 18 months in prison and must pay a $5,000 fine.
