after they met classified documents in a house and ex-office of Joe Biden from when he was vice president and later documents of the same style were found, but at the home of vice president Mike Pence the National Archives and Records Administration, NARA, urged former presidents and vice presidents to carry out “an evaluation” to determine if they have any classified material in his power.

In a letter to designated records representatives, the National Archives indicated that “several cases reported in the media where records containing classified information and subject to the Presidential Records LawPRA, outside of the physical custody of the Files and Records Administration.

The letter that was reported by CNN indicates that “The responsibility to comply with the PRA does not diminish after the end of an administration.”

And it is that according to the Law of Presidential Registries, all records of the presidents and vice presidents, including classified documents, must be turned over to the archives at the end of their terms.

“Therefore, we ask you to make a evaluation of any material found outside of NARA and that relates to the Administration for which you are serving as a designated representative under the PRA, to determine whether bodies of materials previously presumed to be of a personal nature might inadvertently contain Presidential or Vice Presidential Records subject to the PRA, whether whether they are classified or not classified ”, reads the letter released by the aforementioned medium.

Both Biden and Pence said they were unaware that their properties had classified documents until their legal representatives found them.
