Dani Alves’ new lawyer in charge of handling the sexual assault case against him, confessed the real reason why the player contradicted himself three times in his initial statement before the authorities.

After the player changed the chronology of the events three times in a 45-minute intervention, the Spanish justice decided to leave him under arrest and without the right to bail. Now, the lawyer Cristóbal Martell indicated in an interview for the RTVE program ‘Hablando Claro’, that the Brazilian was “afraid of revealing in public that he had been unfaithful to his wife”, the Spanish model Joana Sanz.

Martell also reported that this Friday morning he was able to see his client for the first time and he is “serene and calm” and maintains a “solid and linear speech.”

It is important to note that when Alves was arrested, Sanz, who recently lost his mother, published a message of full support for the footballer after his arrest. Last Thursday, Joana removed from her Instagram feed all the posts she had with her husband and where she was receiving hundreds of offensive comments.

He will seek to get him out of jail

The lawyer explained during the interview that he is working on an appeal that allows Dani Alves to be released on provisional release since it considers the flight risk non-existent due to the voluntary declaration of the player before the authorities.

He also indicated that the South American would be willing to hand over his passport and appear in court as many times as necessary. This measure implemented by Martell will have a response in approximately 20 days.

Recently, Spanish media reported that Alves was “deceived” by the Barcelona authorities so that he did not flee when they learned the seriousness of the accusation against him. Apparently, the Mossos d’Esquadra took advantage of the player’s presence in Spain due to the death of his mother-in-law and took him to make a statement.

The defender is accused of having beaten and raped a 23-year-old girl on the night of December 30 at the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona after inviting her and her friends to share a table.
