The vulnerability of the elderly makes them the perfect victims for unscrupulous people, who see in them beings from whom they can rob without problem, as happened in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, where the arrest of a woman exposed a gang operating out of the local bus terminalwhere they drugged people to strip them of their belongings.
Graciela M, 44, is the woman who fell for this crime, whose arrest was disclosed by the Jalisco State Attorney General’s Office, as well as her way of operating. According to the authorities, the person referred to offered the elderly juice and cookies, the latter altered with benzodiazepines.
With this they managed to get the person drugged, a moment that the woman’s accomplices took advantage of to take their belongings and then flee. One of those affected, in an event that occurred in October 2022, recounted what happened and revealed the vehicle in which they escaped: a silver Mitsubishi Endeavor truck.
Research reveals that attacks with this modus operandi date back several monthsTherefore, upon learning of the fact and in view of the previous complaints, the authorities carried out a series of operations that allowed the identification of the now detainee.

Also, the identification of three of his accomplices was achieved, who already have arrest warrants for the crimes of qualified robbery and injuries, since some of the victims were strongly affected in their state of health, in addition to the fact that they were stripped of their belongings.
During the woman’s detention, the reported vehicle was also seized, inside which were located two bottles containing medication with the name Clonazepam, which was presumably used to commit the crime.
As part of the investigations into this case, the authorities called on people who have suffered this crime to come and present the corresponding complaint.
It should be noted that benzodiazepine is a controlled medication that can treat anxiety and insomnia. Interference with this causes a person to calm down or become completely sedated.
