Mexican Isaac Alarcón signed a reserve/future contract with the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday that will allow him to fight for a place to stay among the 53 members of the squad that will play the 2023 NFL season.

“He has developed into a very good prospect, played a lot on the scouting team this season and has grown tremendously.”said Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy.

The reserve/future contract consists of the fact that from this season the Mexican will have a greater chance of being part of the first team; This agreement can only be signed by those players who have not been within the quota of 53 players that make up a team.

Isaac Alarcón is a beneficiary of the ‘International Pathway Program’ with which the NFL looks for talents around the world so that they can make their way in the league.

The man born in Monterrey, Nuevo León is 24 years old, plays as an offensive lineman and came to the Dallas Cowboys in 2020 thanks to said program.

Coach Mike McCarthy told me that Isaac Alarcón’s progress as a professional football player is evident in these three years and that he is ready to try and compete for a spot as a regular player for the #Cowboys.

In 2021, he played in two preseason games, before remaining on the practice squad for the remainder of the season.

In the 2022 preseason he started as a starter in the last preparation game against the Seattle Seahawksin which he was used as a left guard.

During that confrontation, Alarcón allowed a capture, committed two punishments, one for holding, the other for out of place, and he was injured in the last period.

After being cut by the Lone Star franchise for the 53-player quota, the Mexican stayed on the practice squad for the 2022 season.

Isaac Alarcón played American football in the Mexican university league with the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, with which he won a national championship in 2019.
