USCIS extends validity of the Green card for those who correctly present Form I-751 and Form I-829

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, USCIS, announced that the green card will extend its validity for conditional permanent residents with a Form I-829, petition to remove conditions on residence, or Form I-751, investor petition to remove the conditions of Permanent Resident Status for 48 months after the expiration date of the card.

Yes ok Form I-829 started on January 11, for Form I-751 it is expected to start on January 25 “We are making this change to accommodate current processing times for Form I-829 and Form I-751 that have increased over the past year.”

USCIS also reported that it was given the task of update the language in the receipt notices of both forms in order to extend the validity of the Green card for 48 months for people with the recently filed Form I-751 or Form I-829.

Eligible conditional permanent residents who previously received notices less than 48 months in length and whose cases are still pending will receive new notices in this regard “we will issue new notices of receipt to eligible conditional permanent residents who previously received notices with a 48-month extension and whose cases are still pending.”

According to the Department, notices may be submitted via an expired green card as evidence of continued status while the case remains pending with USCIS and At the time of presenting the updated notice of receipt, you will be authorized to work and travel for 48 months from the expiration date that appears on the back of the expired green card.
