M3 processors could be in the next generation of MacBook Air and iMac

New rumors point to the possibility that the new generation of MacBook Air and iMac are the first to have the M3 processorsthe most advanced and powerful version of Apple chips.

According to insiders these devices should be launched on the market during the second half of 2023, so there would still be several months to meet them. It is speculated that these processors would offer significantly greater efficiency than the current generation of chips since it would have a 3-nanometer manufacturing process.

This in addition to offer more power in terms of performance of the processing unit (CPU) will also translate into better performance at the level of the graphics part (GPU).

This is not the first information about the arrival of the M3 chips that has been disclosed since the insider Mark Gurman noted in mid-2022 that Apple was working to incorporate the M3 chips into the upcoming 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air, as well as the new iMac..

Although little is known about the M3 chips, the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), leader in the processor segment and in charge of manufacturing Apple chips, reported that new 3 nanometer drives are capable of up to 15% faster speeds when compared to 5 nanometer technology.

At the same time the new generation of processors also reduces energy consumption by 30% so its energy use is much more efficient.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the MacBook Air and iMac would not be the only computers to get the update and make the jump to M3 chips. The insider stated that Apple is evaluating the possibility of launching a version of the MacBook Pro with an M3 processor on the market.

It would be high-end premium models because it must be remembered that recently the company unveiled a new version of the MacBook Pro with M2 Pro and M2 Max processors. However, these rumors have not been confirmed by Apple so far as it is part of the company’s policy not to reveal any information about the launch of its new products or services before its official presentation.
