Inflation registered its lowest level in the last month, at 6.45%, for which reason authorities of the President’s Government Joe Biden point out that the economy is on the right path to recoveryeven to open new businesses.

In an exclusive interview for this newspaper, the administrator for Small BusinessesIsabella Guzmán, encouraged potential entrepreneurs to invest in a businessbut always observing the economic behavior and planning their steps.

“With the president’s focus on building an economy that works for everyone, we have seen nine and a half million new businesses started since the president took office,” Guzmán defended. “And clearly there are opportunities that we’re trying to make sure small businesses have a seat at the table to compete for. So it’s a good time to dive in and explore that business opportunity.”

He said the Small Business Administration (SBAfor its acronym in English) offers different tools to entrepreneurs, including how to find investors.

“We are strengthening our programs to make sure that small businesses can be successful,” he insisted.

invited the people interested in starting a business connect with local district offices, to learn about the so-called “community navigators” that the Biden Administration supports to obtain the necessary funding and guidance.

“We need all of our small business innovators and entrepreneurs to go out and create jobs and grow their businesses for our global economic strength,” he said.

Review economic behavior

Administrator Guzmán said it was important for entrepreneurs and small business owners to keep abreast of economic behavior.

“Yes, good [es bueno abrir un negocio] now, as always, but especially now that they are facing possible uncertainty in the economy, revenue is very important,” he said. “It’s good to see the inflation figures and controls so they can try to reduce operating costs, but they’ll also have to make sure they have opportunities for revenue growth.”

He said that the SBA offers alternatives with tax incentives and investment opportunities. He highlighted infrastructure plans that can help small businesses win contracts.

“Those small local businesses can access contracts to help rebuild our highways, our bridges, our airports and our ports”, he defended. “And in the meantime, hire locally and use other local vendors.”

He said that electronic commerce continues to be a great opportunity for small businesses.

“In addition to taking advantage of the diaspora [hispana]that connection and the cultural and linguistic connection to countries abroad, we want to make sure that this translates into more trade and exports for our small businesses,” he said.

Focus on small businesses

Administrator Guzmán indicated that the SBA has a wide network that allows entrepreneurs to “navigate” more easily through the options available for their businesses.

“The community browser pilot program was launched with the American Rescue Plan,” he recalled. “To build a broader network, we already had more than 1,200 centers across the country, now we have more than 1,600 local organizations and centers that can help small businesses figure out everything from their startup plan to pricing strategies, strategies marketing and more.

He remembered that the Top 50 Browsers Focus on Helping Latino Entrepreneurs.

“Latino entrepreneurs are growing at high rates in terms of the number of small businesses and startups during the Biden Administration,” he acknowledged. “We have had nine and a half million new business starts and Latinos over the last 10 years have been among the fastest growing and new business starts at a rate of 4% versus.”

Guzmán added that having these networks makes it possible to address language and cultural differences.

“We want to make sure that as we build networks, we can help people in the language with cultural sensitivities and knowledge of the Latino community or all the communities that are out there, to make sure they are successful in entrepreneurship,” he said. . “Especially making sure that we are funding organizations like the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, who already have members and networks in the communities so they can connect them with capital, contracts and other resources to help grow their businesses.”
