After the technology company announced one of the largest rounds of layoffs since 2014 earlier in the week. Two days ago, the top 50 Company executives enjoyed the musical presentation of British singer Sting at a private event in Davos.

The next day 10,000 employees were fired from their positions at Microsoft, due to strong macroeconomic conditions and changes in customer needsThis was announced by the company in a statement. However, the intimate meeting on the other side of the world was not pleasant at all, for the thousands of workers at the headquarters in Redmond, Washington.

Although Microsoft has sought to have a significant presence this year at the World Economic Forum, the recent downsizing may give it a bad image, or so some employees claim. However, in his defense, the CEO of the company, Satya Nadella, alleges that currently the corporation has to adjust to the economic slowdown and one of the main actions is layoffs.

In addition, Nadella confirmed that the company is investing in artificial technology as a way of “doing more with less”. In 2022 the company also had to make a wave of massive layoffs, which affected more than 1% of its workforce.

The company currently employs about 200,000 people worldwide, but the recent decision will affect approximately 5% of its workforce, according to its website. In the United States alone, it has more than 100,000 employees.

But Microsoft would not be the only company that would be implementing these actions, it seems that The post-pandemic scenario has prompted several companies to follow the same path of layoffs and reducing your expenses as a way to optimize your income.

Amazon, Telsa, Netflix, Shopify, among others have announced massive layoffs at their companies, for example; Last year, 13% of Meta employees terminated their contract with the company. Amazon, for its part, announced the completion of the contract of some 18,000 employees, although that is only a small part of its payroll.
