Soccer and MLS are in mourninggiven that Anton Walkes, Charlotte FC playerlost his life during the early hours of this Thursday after an accident.
The American league club itself was in charge of confirming the news with a message on social networks, but without giving further details of the event.
According to information from the Miami Herald, Walkes was involved in a collision between two boats on Wednesday near Miami Marine Stadium, although it has not yet been confirmed if that was what caused his death.
For his part, David Tepper, the owner of the club in which the English defender played, spoke about it and said that everyone in the team is “Devastated by the tragic passing of Anton Walkes“.
“He was a tremendous son, father, partner and teammate whose joyful approach to life touched everyone he met,” he said.

“There are no words to describe the pain of everyone in Major League Soccer today. after learning of the tragic passing of Charlotte FC’s Anton Walkes,” the league posted.
“Anton was a talented and dedicated player who was loved by his teammates and fans. We extend our deepest condolences to his partner, family, friends and the entire Charlotte FC family. MLS is coordinating with Charlotte FC to provide players and family members with the resources and support they may need during this tragic time.”
Who was Anton Walkes?
The young player began his career with Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, a team with which he made his debut in 2016, later he played for Portsmouth for three seasons before traveling to the United States to continue his football career with Atlanta United. before coming to Charlotte FC.
