WhatsApp announced that as of February 1 it will update the list of devices compatible with the application. Those responsible for the courier service indicated that at least 40 phone models will be unsupported from that dateso users will not be able to continue using it.
This is the first revision of this type that WhatsApp has made so far in 2023, however, it is a normal process that the application carries out routinely.
The main reason whye WhatsApp updates the list of compatible phones is to ensure that the application works correctly on the latest devices. Modern mobile phones come with advanced features like bigger screens, better cameras, and more powerful processors, and WhatsApp needs to make sure that it can take advantage of these features to deliver a better user experience.
Also, by updating the list of supported phones, WhatsApp can remove outdated devices that are no longer supported by the app. This helps ensure that the app works efficiently on the latest devices and that users don’t experience performance issues or bugs.
WhatsApp detailed that among the teams affected by this decision are phones from brands recognized around the world such as Samsung and Apple. In this sense, all those devices that have an operating system version prior to Android 4.1 or iOS 12.0 will not be able to count on support as of the aforementioned date.
Those who do not wish to be affected by this WhatsApp decision should update the operating system of their phones or if necessary, purchase new equipment that is compatible.
