a detective from Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) was in a car accident and died while driving home from workthis Sunday night in the Torrance area.

Detective Steven J. Lim, who worked for the Sheriff’s Department for 26 years, was killed in the accident, which occurred near the intersection of Carson Street and Vermont Avenue.outside Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles Sheriff Robert Luna reported.

Lim was a detective assigned to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office of Special Victimswhich investigates sexual assault and abuse cases, LASD said.

The Sheriff’s Department said Lim suffered some kind of medical emergency while driving in the area near the hospital.

According to the authorities, the accident occurred in West Carson, an unincorporated area of ​​Los Angeles County adjacent to Torrance and Carson.

Until now, Lim’s cause of death was not entirely clear.

The accident was reported around 10:00 pm this Sunday.

Lim suffered some type of medical emergency while driving on eastbound Carson Street at the time you were involved in a single vehicle traffic accidentauthorities said in a press release.

LASD has not provided further details about this mishap or whether Lim was behind the wheel of a department vehicle.

Paramedics responded to the emergency call and transferred the detective to a hospital, but he died a little later.
