Club América has not started the Liga MX Closing Tournament 2023 at all well. The Águilas add two points out of six as a result of two draws, first against Gallos Blancos del Querétaro and last weekend on a visit to Toluca’s field.

At the Nemesio Diez Stadium, América was erratic in front of goal and could have lost the match if it weren’t for an agonizing goal by Henry Martín with 15 minutes to go before the end of the match. Despite the result, the fans kept supporting their players and especially Óscar Jiménezthe club’s starting goalkeeper after the departure of Guillermo ‘Memo’ Ochoa to Serie A in Italy.

The 34-year-old goalkeeper was very correct in his position, although he had some contrasts during the match. Nevertheless, a boy caught the attention of his idol to greet him and Jiménez gave him a shirt.

When Óscar Jiménez threw the shirt at the boy, an adult and larger fan snatched his jersey. This was seen by some fans who were in the place and recorded the moment, so the situation has generated discontent on social networks.

Given this, the goalkeeper has tried to contact the infant to give him another shirt and even take a picture with him. Characters like the journalist André Marín, from Fox Sports, have echoed the video.

The Águilas del América will play their next match on Saturday, January 21 when they receive Club Puebla at the Azteca Stadium.
