Like last semester, The Eagles of America have not started this Closing Tournament 2023 at all well. Two draws in the same number of games are not enough for a club whose objective is to win the MX League, a competition that is short and does not allow points to escape.

Those led by Fernando ‘Tano’ Ortiz tied 2-2 in their visit to the Diablos del Toluca stadiumagonizing equality thanks to a goal at minute 75 by scorer Henry Martín, who also was not the starting lineup in the first game against the Gallos Blancos del Querétaro.

The direction the team is taking The demanding Azulcrema board of directors did not like itwho could dismiss Tano Ortiz if good results do not arrive, not expecting the same thing to happen as with Santiago Solari that the decisions were made when the club was sunk at the bottom of the table.

At a press conference, once again the coach did not show an iota of the pressure that is behind his position inside.

“From the Querétaro game to today we improved a lot, I was not so happy at the game level. I think the team we want to be has shown itself”

The América strategist remarked that he is not satisfied against Toluca but he also did not reprimand his players in front of the press, which is not typical of his calm and measured style.

The next opportunity to correct the course of the capital club will be in the next game against Club Puebla, on January 21 at the Azteca Stadium.
