More than 600 immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela were approved to receive immigration protection recently implemented by the Government of President Joe Biden, at the time that the crossing of immigrants decreased considerably at the border.
There is a first group of at least 10 immigrants that are even already in US territory, according to a CBS News report.
The objective of the Biden Administration was to reduce the arrival of people at the border with Mexico and their attempt to cross irregularly, which is already showing first results, by go from 7,000 daily encounters to 4,000 in a weekadd the report.
There are several criteria these people must meet, starting with submitting proof of a sponsor in the United States who will receive them, as well as passing security exams.

This type of protection was initiated to help refugees from Afghanistan after the departure of the US Army from that country and then with the Ukrainians, after the invasion of Russia.
Although civil organizations consider that this program violates the asylum request rules, the Biden Administration could extend it to a third stage, announced the National Security adviser, Jake Sullivan, in the framework of the North American Leaders Summit.
“We took our first step in October; we took our second step in January, there’s no reason to believe there won’t be a third step at some point. We are open to that,” Sullivan said.
