Five people, three women and two men, were detained by the Puerto Rico Police during a drug and weapons transaction at a funerallocal authorities reported this Saturday.

According to the Police, the arrests were made on Friday afternoon by agents of the Bayamón Intelligence and Special Arrests Division, attached to the Puerto Rico Police Bureau, for violation of the Weapons and Controlled Substances Law.

According to the information, after carrying out surveillance and escort during the burial of Julio César Cabrera, known as “Bolo Trenza” in Guaynabo -a municipality near San Juan- the police noticed two individuals in a suspicious attitude making some changes of packages from one vehicle to another.

Upon suspicion, officers detained the three women and the two men. The authorities seized two firearms, controlled substances and more than 500 dollars in cash, while the detainees are awaiting the possible filing of charges.

The Police, in turn, reported the arrests to the federal authorities on the island, as one of the confiscated weapons is altered to fire on automaticwhich is a violation of federal law.

254 kilos of cocaine seized

On the other hand, the Puerto Rico Police reported the seizure of 254 kilos of cocaine and the arrest of two people linked to the drug shipment.

The Commissioner of the Puerto Rico Police Bureau, Antonio Lopez Figueroaexplained in a tweet that the drug was seized this Friday during an intervention on Highway 3 in Luquillo (northeast) by officers attached to the “shock force” of the East and Carolina region.

The value of the drug has not yet been released by the authorities, but it was reported that it was found in several large blocks, in the trunk of a red truck.
