It’s been almost a month since start of the World Cup in Qatar 2022 and there are many doubts within the Mexican Football Federation (FMF). After the departure of Gerardo Martino from the El Tri bench, It has not been possible to appoint a new coach for the next process for the 2026 World Cup. Many have been postulates, but Alan Pulido trusts that “Piojo” can do that job.

“We all know that the team was a failure in the World Cup in Qatar. We know that the ideal or what was expected was for them to qualify and they did not, it cannot be called anything other than failure. If I had to choose one, I would choose Piojo, he would be the ideal coach, Mexican and with the experience of a World Cup and with the titles he has had at a professional level in his career, it would be good for the national team“Said the Aztec in statements compiled by Mediotiempo.

Mexican soccer in crisis

The Mexican National Team hit rock bottom in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Before the last day of group C, El Tri would not have been able to score their first goal in the World Cup. The United States stood up for Concacaf in the tournament and MLS will represent the confederation in the next Club World Cup. All these aspects are indications of the “crisis” facing Aztec football.

“What we already know is that Mexican soccer went through a crisis (…) It is a consequence of how things have been handled in a bad way, the fact of removing relegation, now adding many foreigners, of course it affects young people and you do not give that opportunity to Mexicans who cannot emerge (…) That of course affects and in the long run it shows that the league has become stagnant and does not take that step that we all would like”, he concluded.

Alan Pulido continues to work on his recovery to return to the pitch in optimum condition. Before his injury, “Puligol” was one of the Mexican figures in the MLS and a regular call-up for the Mexican National Team. The former Chivas de Guadalajara striker hopes to regain his physical conditions to put himself back in the orbit of El Tri.
