The North American Leaders Summit began between the leaders Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), Joe Biden and Justin Trudeaufrom Mexico, the United States and Canada, respectively.

All reinforced their commitment to the Los Angeles declaration on migration, and protection, seeking legal alternatives such as Internet options for immigrants.

Jesus Garcia, our specialist in politics, migration and national affairs, reflected his vision of this summit:

“The agenda was tight, one of the important aspects is that the leaders of the three countries do not reach new agreements as such, because all this is established with previous meetings. There was a high-level economic dialogue and the security one and each of the secretaries in Mexico have independent negotiations, ”García reflected from the outset.

“What the summit serves is to outline some final agreements that have already been negotiated. There are three important aspects established. One of them is andthe immigration issue, is one of the most important, especially the bilateral meeting between Joe Biden with Mexican President López Obrador“added the journalist from La Opinión.

The issue of migration was highlighted in this matter and related to investment, economy and labor talks against organized crime, which are also involved in human smuggling.

“It is important because they are trying to see how the new policy of reducing irregular migration from South and Central America to the US, which passes through Mexico, would work with investments and economic developments,” he added.

The United States also had its bilateral meeting with Justin Trudeau of Canada and they focused a lot on international agreements, since both are part of NATO, and the G7. They focused on how they will give Ukraine a boost, on their defense with Ukraine, which is something Mexico is not involved in.

Regarding the relationship between these three leaders, García described it as “close”:

“The relationship is very close, it is very interesting because you can see the reaction of the opposition in Mexico, but we could say that AMLO and Biden live in a kind of “bromance”, widely used in the US, a play on words between “brothers”. ” and “romance”, they are very close friends”, assured García.

“It is a fairly cordial relationship, close in the sense that there is an openness to dialogue and it is mainly beneficial for Mexico. Justtin Trudeau is a person who is seen very close at all summits, with all the leaders and on this occasion he was not very different either ”, closed the La Opinión specialist.
