January 5, 2023 will be a day difficult to forget for the inhabitants of Sinaloa, as it was marked by a series of violent events that practically kept the city under siege, derived from the arrest of Ovidio Guzmán, aka “El Ratón”.

And it is that, after the capture of the son of the chapo guzmanthe Sinaloa Cartel ordered its members to take to the streets to try to avoid, at all costs, the transfer of the young drug trafficker.

That is how on the radios and cell phones of the hitmen began to hear the “key 19″which, as revealed by the newspaper Milenio after interviewing a member of the cartel, means setting fire to what they find, stealing vehicles and blocking roads, that is, unleashing chaos, but without touching people.

This is how, little by little, several videos and photographs of drug blockades registered in different parts of Culiacán began to be disseminated on social networks, as well as caravans of pickup trucks with heavily armed men moving at high speed.

Even one of the videos that attracted the most attention shows two children on board a van carrying assault rifles while they are listening to the radio while waiting for orders.

As the hours passed, the news about the capture of Ovidio Guzmán increased, but also the actions of the criminals, who even moved to the vicinity of the Culiacán airport.

The objective? Preventing a Mexican Air Force plane from transporting El Chapo’s son to Mexico Citywhich would practically mark the end of his criminal career.

That is why, from various points in the capital of Sinaloa, hitmen armed with 50-caliber Barret rifles fired into the air every time they saw the presence of an aircraft, as was also shared on social networks.

Although the efforts of the Sinaloa Cartel to rescue “El Ratón”, As happened in the so-called “Culiacanazo” registered in October 2019, this time the criminals did not achieve their objective.

However, this did not mean that the violent actions ceased and, on the contrary, the drug blockades and vehicle fires spread to other municipalities in Sinaloa, and even to other states such as Sonora.

This generated a case to which some inhabitants joinedwho took advantage of the absence of the authorities to commit acts of robbery and looting of various stores.

TV screens, washing machines, refrigerators and computer equipment were some of the products that were stolen from businesses. Although on social networks it is seen that several people participated in these criminal acts, the authorities reported that six people were arrested for looting and committing acts of vandalism.

This is how the capture of one of the most sought after targets by the authorities of the United States and Mexico sowed terror in Culiacán, a region where, as revealed on January 5, organized crime rules.
