The deadlock between the allies of kevin mccarthythe Republican leader of the House of Representatives and some legislators Republican Party who resist voting for him, led to another failure for McCarthy in the eleventh round of voting on his candidacy for president of the legislative body, on Thursday.

McCarthy again fell short after the 11th vote to elect the new speaker of the House of Representatives, failing to achieve the necessary support in his own party, which holds the majority.

a group of legislators “rogue” republicans they have not allowed progress with the election of the president of the Chamber and, while said position is not covered, elected congressmen cannot be sworn in, in addition to which all legislative processes are stopped.

McCarthy won 200 votes from his formation, while the leader of the Democrats in the House, Hakeem Jeffriesonce again received the 212 votes of his formation.

Meanwhile, the alternative candidates proposed by conservative Republicans – Kevin Hern and Donald Trump, who was nominated by Florida ultra-conservative Matt Gaetz – took 8 votes in total.

Republican Byron Donalds also received 12 votes, although this time he was not nominated.

The House voted to adjourn Thursday and resume voting at noon on Friday.largely along party lines after a third day of voting failed to produce a president.

US media such as The Washington Post and The Hill said during the vote that Republicans would have reached an agreement in principle to invest Kevin McCarthy which includes many of the demands of conservative Republican representatives.

Some of these representatives, however, like the aforementioned Gaetz or Lauren Boebart, have been very critical of McCarthy, refusing to even consider the possibility of accepting his election.

McCarthy could afford to lose four Republican votes, as the Conservatives have a 222-seat majority to the Democrats’ 212, and it takes 218 to be elected.

The president of the House of Representatives is the third authority in the United States, only behind President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris who also serves as president of the Senate.
