In the midst of the wave of violence that broke out after the capture of one of the leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel, Ovidio Guzmán, hitmen attacked a Mexican Army plane at the Culiacán Sinaloa airport, but in the middle of the fray, a commercial aircraft was also damaged.

The moment, shocking in itself, is more terrifying from inside the commercial Aeroméxico flight, where the passengers had to throw themselves to the ground to prevent a bullet from injuring them.

A recording of one of the passengers shows the moment of panic that was experienced on board. Between screams and cries, different voices of anguish are heard, including that of a minor who is heard saying: “Why are they shooting at us?”

In a statement, Aeroméxico confirmed that one of its planes was hit by a bullet at the Culiacán airport, with no one being injured.

“This morning a bullet impact was detected in the fuselage of an Embraer 190 team that was ready to operate flight AM165 eon the Culiacán-Mexico City route, which was canceled for security reasons,” the airline said.

Consequently, the national airlines confirmed the cancellation of their operations to and from airports in Sinaloa due to the violent events.

Aeroméxico canceled its operations to and from Culiacán, Los Mochis and Mazatlán, by reiterating that the safety of clients and collaborators is and will continue to be their “highest priority”.
