The trip undertaken by the President of the United States Joe Biden, his wife Jill and other members of his family to the warm Virgin Islands has raised endless criticism against the government for the lack of “empathy” by the president in one of the most critical moments that your country is experiencing due to the strong gusts of wind and snowfall that have caused the death of at least 25 people.

The White House has defended the holidays, saying that the president will continue to work during the term. The Bidens will return to Washington DC on January 2. “No matter where the president is, he is working” a White House spokesperson told Newsweek in a statement. “The president will continue to closely monitor updates and remain in close contact with staff throughout the New Year.”

However, Ted Cruz couldn’t help but criticize Biden’s family vacation and shared on his Twitter account a Fox News video discussing the president’s vacation plans with the caption “Enjoy St. Croix” followed by emojis of palm trees, drinks, and sunbeams.

The Texas senator’s comment was also answered and many of them they asked him about his trip to Cancun in one of the most critical moments that his state was going through.

“It’s crazy, but when you do your job, you can take a vacation. Now tell us again, What was Cancun like when thousands of your Texas constituents had no power and were freezing?”. “Ted is an individual state senator and a major figurehead. As someone who so often claims that he is a proud Texan and his “love” for his constituents, he left to take his family with him so they wouldn’t have to go through the storm. Meanwhile, thousands were left without power. Also…”. “You of all people? Really?”. “However, Ted Cruz said to enjoy the holidays. Not everything is an attack”, were some comments that the senator received.

People reminded Ted Cruz of his trip to Cancun because he and his family they flew to one of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico while Texas dealt with power outages and running water during the deadly winter storm that hit Texas in 2021.

Cruz originally defended his actions by stating that he flew to Cancun to “be a good father” after her daughters asked her to go on a trip with friends when classes were cancelled, although her vacation had to be interrupted due to the strong criticism she received.

“I didn’t want all the screaming and shouting about this trip to distract for one moment from the real issues that I think Texans care about, which is keeping all of our families safe,” Cruz said at the time. “It was obviously a mistake and in hindsight I wouldn’t have done it.”.
