Convict 10 of the 13 involved in the assassination attempt on “Big Papi” Ortiz

A court in the Dominican Republic sentenced 10 of the 13 people accused of the attempted murder of the former Major League Baseball player David ‘Big Papi’ Ortiz, which occurred on June 9, 2019 in Santo Domingo.

Rolfi Ferreyra Cruz, accused of shooting Ortiz, fHe was sentenced to 30 years in prisona penalty that Eddy Vladimir Féliz García also received, who, according to the authorities, transferred the former to the bar where the former baseball player was on the night of the event.

ortizwho was inducted into the Cooperstown (New York) Baseball Hall of Fame in July, was shot in the back that exited through the abdomen on July 9, 2019 while sharing with other people in a bar in the Santo Domingo Este municipality, Santo Domingo province.

After the impact, he was taken to a health center in the Dominican capital, where he underwent surgery and was transferred the following day to Boston, where he underwent a second operation.

The official investigations into the attack determined that “Big Papi,” as he was baptized in American baseball, was allegedly confused with another person who was also in the bar and who was the true target of a drug-related settling of scores.

Ortiz himself, once he had recovered from his injuries, ordered a private investigation that yielded the same result as the one carried out by the Dominican Public Ministry.
