The Brazilian legend Edson Arantes do Nascimento, better known as Pelé, will have to spend Christmas hospitalized due to his delicate state of health due to the progressive advance of cancer. The night of December 24, the former player spent it in the company of almost all his relatives.
This was revealed by her daughter, Kely Nascimento, on her Instagram account. “Almost everyone,” she wrote herself in the early hours of Sunday with a photo in which he appears together with his brothers and his mother in the hospital room where Pelé was admitted on November 29.
In that photo appears O Rei’s wife, Marcia Aoki, their three eldest children, including Edinho, who arrived in Sao Paulo on Saturday. Some grandchildren were also present.
“Almost every. Merry Christmas. Gratitude, love, togetherness, family… The essence of Christmas. We thank all of you for all the love and light that you direct our way. In this crazy and amazing life, I would be nothing without them. Today and always: Merry Christmas, happy everything,” she posted.
Edinho was the last to arrive at the hospital to accompany his father last Saturday. Pelé’s health has kept Brazil in suspense since last Wednesday when the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo confirmed his deterioration due to colon cancer that he has suffered since 2021.
Currently, the legendary 82-year-old former player is receiving intensive care for “kidney and heart dysfunction.” Reports indicate that O Reí would be preparing for a fatal outcome when saying goodbye to family and friends.
Some images have already emerged on social networks where the veteran ex-soccer player can be seen in his hospital bed together with two young people who are showing him the screen of a mobile phone in what appears to be a video call.
Although what is being said is not clearly heard, the video could indicate that Pelé was saying goodbye to his loved ones. However, there is no official information about it.
