The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a statement on Saturday in which he recalled that the Title 42 continues to apply at the borders of the United States

The statement came as cities along the US-Mexico border are bracing for a potential surge in asylum seekers, making it clear that Title 42 restrictions remain in effect.

Right now, that rule, put in place as a precaution against the COVID-19 pandemic, allows the federal government to turn away many immigrants at the border, denying them the right to seek asylum.

The Supreme Court, in an order entered this week, pushed back the completion date for Title 42.

The Supreme Court could now allow the Biden administration to end the use of Title 42 in a matter of days, or justices could wait weeks or months. as they consider the challenge of the 19 states.

“The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) continues to fully enforce our immigration and public health laws at the border. Individuals and families who attempt trespass are being removed, as required by court order under Title 42 public health authority, or placed in removal proceedings.” warns the statement.

DHS warned: “Regardless of nationality, any person who attempts to enter without authorization is subject to removal under Title 42. Those who cannot be removed pursuant to Title 42 may be placed on expedited removal and any person whom ordered removed will be subject to a 5-year entry ban under Title 8.”

As for Venezuelan immigrants trying to enter the United States between ports of entry, they were reminded that continue to be returned to Mexico and that they will be excluded from the Venezuelan Migration Execution Process announced in October.

DHS also referred to has deployed 23,000 agents and officers working to secure the southwest border and continues to work closely with Mexico to bolster operations to target human smuggling organizations and bring them to justice.
