TikTok started testing a new full-screen landscape playback format in what is believed to be a bet by the social network to try to compete with YouTube. This is a limited test, so the new feature, which can be activated by a new button, will only be available to a small number of users.
It is expected that this change, in case it becomes another function of TikTok, Enable content creators to reuse material they previously chose to post exclusively on YouTube. This would translate into a greater number of long-lasting videos, especially content related to gaming.

An investigation by Alphabet, the parent company of Google, revealed that 40% of young audiences prefer to use TikTok instead of Google, which demonstrates a change in public behavior.
“We continue to learn, over and over again, that new internet users don’t have the expectations and mindset we’ve grown accustomed to,” Prabhakar Raghavan, Google’s senior vice president, said at the time.
This has led some experts to claim that TikTok is morphing to become the Google of Gen Z
