Church bus carrying 20 children overturned in Houston area; several were taken to hospital

HOUSTON – Several children were hospitalized after a church bus overturned in eastern Harris County, according to the sheriff Ed Gonzalez this Sunday.

Officers with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident at an apartment complex located on the block 90 of Uvalde street at about 04: 25 pm

Upon arrival at the scene they found a “very chaotic”, according to Gonzalez.

The sheriff said that officers and paramedics had to move quickly after some of the children were lying outside the bus at different parts of the scene.

Initial information indicated that the bus carried around 25 children and five adults to different locations after mass services when it overturned.

Gonzalez added that the exact number of passengers on board was not accurate because some were being dropped off at different locations throughout the day.

Gonzalez said that most of the passengers taken to the hospital were children, but that they were all expected to be fine. One adult, however, is in critical condition.

The cause of the accident has not been revealed.
