Authorities identify two victims who died in Torrance plane crash

The authorities identified this Thursday the two victims who died in an accident involving a single-engine plane that occurred this Wednesday when he was trying to land at Zamperini Field, in the city of Torrance.

Douglas Happ, from 80 years old and a resident of Redondo Beach; and Gregg Low, 12 years old and of Torrance, died of of the plane crash.

An Arion Lightning plane with both people on board crashed shortly after 12: 00 am. this Wednesday, reported Eva Lee Ngai, of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The aircraft fell in an adjacent grassy area to the airport runway and was destroyed.

Until now it has not been reported which of the two victims was the one piloting the small plane.

At 11: 00 am, the authorities received a call informing about the accident that the single-engine plane Arion Lightning had suffered when it was trying to land.

The aircraft was totally destroyed and their remains were left at the exit end of the runway.

No further information was provided about the two people who died in the accident.

Torrance Municipal Airport – Zamperini Field is located at 2022 Airport Drive, where approximately a few 80 aircraft.

This aerodrome is mainly used for private flights, but it is also used for flight instruction, aircraft repair and charter flights.

The accident was being investigated by the FAA and the National Safety Board in Transportation, with the NTSB at the helm.
