Santa Ana winds bring fire danger and power outages to Southern California on Thanksgiving

Santa Ana winds move through Southern California on Thanksgiving Day, resulting in increases the danger of fires in the region.

The The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning that will be in effect until Friday morning for some mountains and valleys in Los Angeles County and parts of Ventura County.

A warning of red flag is an indication that critical fire weather conditions are expected and residents are urged to be aware of anything that could start a wildfire.

High winds can also down trees and power lines, possibly causing power outages, while also making driving treacherous for trucks and other high-profile vehicles.

The Southern California Edison website showed that public safety power shutoffs were being considered for thousands of customers in Los Angeles, Riverside and Ventura counties.

Los Angeles and Orange on Thanksgiving Day will see a maximum temperature of 80 degrees, with sunshine and high winds at through the canyons.

The valleys and Inland Empire will see a sunny Thursday with a high of 77 amidst winds up to 35 mph.

The beaches will be sunny with a maximum of 77 and waves from 2 to 4 feet.

Mountain communities on Thursday will be cool with a maximum of 45 during the day. Sun is available, along with wind conditions.

Deserts will see a maximum of 77°, falling to 26° on Thanksgiving night.
