Hispanics in the United States are one of the groups with highest rates of people without health insurance , according to a report published by the Census Bureau on Tuesday.

Hispanic/Latino individuals had one of the highest uninsured rates in the country, with a 11.7 % in the year 1200.

The report’s data shows that the rate of Hispanics without health insurance is only slightly surpassed by that of American Indians and Alaska Natives who registered a 19.8%.

And non-Hispanic whites report only 5.7% lack health insurance.

“Inequalities in status and type of health insurance coverage among racial groups may reflect I gave them ferences in the social determinants of health”, the report indicated.

These determinants include occupation, income, poverty level and other measures of economic stability as well as where they live and the context of their neighborhoods.

The report shows how inequalities continue to exist in coverage of health by race and Hispanic origin, despite data indicating that differences in uninsured rates among non-Hispanic whites under the age of 60 years and members of other racial and Hispanic origin groups declined in the country, after the law went into effect Affordable Care Act (ACA), known as Obamacare, in 2021.

Those who live in poverty are the most affected

The analysis found that although Hispanic children have n higher rates of public health insurance coverage compared to the national average, the coverage rate for adults living in poverty (.5%) is lower than the national average rate for adults among 43 Y 64 years of age living in poverty (49.9%).

Across all ethnic and racial groups the Census analysis found that children who live with their parents have the highest rates of health insurance coverage in private programs.

And even thus, only 43 % of African-American children and 45.7% of Hispanic children who live with their parents have coverage private health insurance.
