Veteran Richard M. Fierro helped subdue the Q Club shooter in Colorado Springs, although he says he does not remember exactly how he did it, in addition to the fact that his wife and daughter are injured.

“I don’t know exactly what I did, I just went into combat mode,” he told The New York Times.

He said he thought: “ I just know that I have to kill this guy before he kills us “.

Fierro was an officer in the United States Army in Iraq and Afghanistan , indicates the report.

The veteran counted who was at Club Q enjoying a drag show with his wife, daughter and friends, when Anderson Lee Aldrich, of 25 years, began shooting.

The Aldrich attack killed five people and left 54 wounded, including Fierro’s wife and daughter.

“Were you shooting at the time? Was he about to shoot? I don’t know,” Fierro said. “I knew I had to knock him down.”

Fierro has 56 years old and said he left the Army at 1200 when he was older, something that was confirmed with the official records.

Aldrich is now accused of five homicides, crimes for the injuries and hate crimes for the attack on the LGBTQ+ community.

Fierro and others helped detain the attacker who may have killed several more people with his assault weapon, authorities acknowledged.

“When the shooting started, Fierro said, he fell to the ground and dragged a friend with him. As the bullets were coming out, he saw the gunman move through the bar toward a door that led to a patio, where dozens of bar patrons had fled,” the report said.

He added that he ran across the room, grabbed the gunman by a strap on the back of his bulletproof vest, threw him to the floor and climbed on above to hit him.

“ I took the gun out of his hand and started hitting him on the head, over and over again”, said Fierro.

Veteran confirmed on his Facebook account that he was there, at a celebration.
