Famous street artist Banksy unveils mural in Russian-bombed Ukrainian city

The elusive British street artist Banksy recently painted a mural

in a bombed-out building at outside the capital of Ukraine , in what would be his first foray into that country at war.

The city of Borodyanka, northwest of the Ukrainian capital kyiv was recently visited by street artist who remains anonymous after decades of international fame.

On Friday night, the world famous graffiti artist posted on Instagram three images of his most recent creation: a gymnast performing a handstand among the ruins of a demolished building in Borodyanka.

The caption read “Borodyanka, Ukraine“.

Instagram post has received many positive comments and thanks to the street artist for giving them hope and inspiration in the middle of the war.

“I live in kyiv, Ukraine, and I am a big fan of yours, Banksy. When I saw your new work I was very moved, I still am. Thank you for inspiring people with your work, and for remembering that the war is not over I hear that many people, including children, are fighting for freedom”, commented the user @les.i.ya

The city of Borodyanka was severely affected by Russian shelling . The town was briefly occupied by Russian forces before they withdrew in April.

Various Banksy-like murals have appeared in and around kyiv, situation which has made Ukrainians think that the street artist might be working in the war-torn country.

However, so far, the only work recognized by Banksy in Ukraine has been that of the gymnast performing a handstand, as he reproduced it on his official Instagram account.

One of those works not officially claimed by the artist represented A man being knocked over by a little boy during a judo match.

Another showed two children using a metal czech hedgehog, an anti-tank defense obstacle, as a seesaw game .
